There is a great thread on reddit.com right now titled “You meet a girl (or guy) and you are really liking her. Suddenly you have a conversation about something and she immediately becomes unattractive to you. What were you talking about and what was her stance?”

(Presumably these are casually and innocently offered things in the normal course of conversation, as opposed to intentional blowoffs.)  Remember, these folks live and work among us.  A few samples:

  • She explained how she routinely gets kittens, and takes them to the pound when they get older and not so cute. I literally asked her, “What the fuck is the matter with you?” To this day i still find this disturbing.
  • “I had to break up with my last boyfriend, because I knew it could never work. I’m a Sagittarius, and he was a Taurus.”  I laughed, thinking she was joking, but when it became clear she wasn’t, I replied, “I’m an Aries, so of course, I think astrology is a bunch of bullshit.”  That was pretty much the end of that.
  • I was out on a date with a girl much younger than me and things seemed to be going pretty good until she whispered in my ear how turned on she was and how I smelled like her grandpa all in the same sentence. She was referring to my cologne but all of a sudden I felt really old and dirty.
  • We went to a hookah bar afterwards and he asked me what the most proud moment of my life was thus far. I told him that I went to Belize several times and volunteered at an orphanage. He then told me that his proudest moment was when he become a member of a frat. He said he cried. Kinda lost interest after that.
  • Him: I don’t really like to go down on girls. Me: Bye.

Heh.

Hey, that’s a pretty powerful coincidence several bullets up.  I’m an Aries too, and I also think astrology is a bunch of bullshit.  Maybe there’s something to it after all.
