If we can’t speak clearly in moral terms about this kind of absolute evil, then we are in trouble. – Charles Krauthammer

OK, so mild-mannered Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan is accused of killing 13 and wounding 29 at Fort Hood last week.  He’s awake and coherent, though may be paralyzed.

Since my last post, investigators have discovered that he was reprimanded as a medical student for proselytizing to patients; that he had multiple contacts with known terrorist radicals in Yemen and Pakistan, including emails from Hasan to known al Qaeda members; and that he had business cards identifying him a soldier of Allah.

And, oh yeah—and this is hardly worth mentioning again, because it could easily be a symptom of post-pre-traumatic war sympathetic anxiety compassionate seizure complex disorder syndrome—as he opened fire, he yelled “Allahu akbar!”

Well, if you follow most of the mainstream press, you’ll quickly conclude that this is indeed highly mysterious.  You’d think some clarity would emerge as the investigation continued, but incredibly, it seems we’re no closer to determining this clearly troubled man’s motivations than we were at the start.

Well, I guess I’ll take a crack at it anyway, even at this very early stage: Radical Islamic fundamentalists are at war with us.

We’d best be at war with them.

Oh, and a note to all who would disingenuously contort such a sentiment into a “war on Islam”:  the sort of tortured hand-wringing and tut-tutting you and your ilk prescribe and practice is highly conducive to this sort of thing occurring again.  Also, improve your reading comprehension.  Words mean things.

Finally, know that I shall always strongly prefer your politically correct sensibilities shoved up your asses to more dead Americans.  Mwah!

Loved Krauthammer and McCarthy today.
