• I think the golden years for sleeping late are about 14 to 35 years of age.  I usually can’t do it anymore even if I want to.  Nathan popped right up about 6:15 this morning, despite that this is his first day out of school for the summer.
  • I haven’t had much to say about Sotomayor, scary though she is.  As puzzlingly amateurish as Obama can be on some things, her nomination was politically masterful.  A still-rudderless Republican Party isn’t going to take down a Puerto Rican woman up from dirt (and let’s not sillily pretend her demographics are coincidental).  Republicans need to play long ball and consider carefully how badly they might damage themselves further with a poorly-considered offensive.
  • I’m still writing and keying a four-digit year on everything that requires a date.  I notice I’m increasingly alone in this practice.  Well, Y2.1K is out there, folks.  We’ll just see who’s laughing in 91 years.
  • Maybe this is Star Trek weekend.  Maybe about this time next month it’ll be Terminator:  Salvation weekend.  Crowd aversion is inconvenient sometimes.
  • I speculated here, and it looks like there may be a gear or two turning:  Fox is considering rebooting Alien.  Given that Sigourney Weaver will be 60 this year, I suppose there’s little chance of the only satisfactory path I see, which would be a film that picks up right after Aliens.
  • Speaking of consumption, our Mellow Mushroom just opened.  That’s a favorite destination for us in Gulf Shores (well, Foley) and Chattanooga, so perhaps having one locally will free up a slot for us to try something new on vacation.
  • I might be the last person on Earth without this Firefox add-on, but just in case:  Ad-Block Plus rocks.  Go get it.
  • Just 14 weeks and change remaining.
