My friend Mark stopped by my office this afternoon to chat for a minute, which generally means we’re going to talk about the things you’re not supposed to talk about (religion and politics).  Our respective mosaics have fabulously stimulating similarities and differences, and it’s rare that I come away from a conversation with him without pleasurably ruminating on something.  I value access to his views highly.

In and amongst graver topics, he dropped a new-to-me site in the conversation today, and I’m really digging the hell out of it.  Do you like music?  Ever been to Pandora.com?  Go now, and get some music going. It take 15 seconds.  (Eventually you have to register, but you can use it enough to get a feel for it without doing so.)

The concept is that you put in a song title or artist, and it creates a stream of high-quality music that begins immediately, based on the Music Genome Project.  I’m loving it, and I expect it’ll become a great way for me to explore new artists.  (I’m excited about using the Xbox 360 to get it to the nice speakers in the living room at our next get-together, too!)

    1. WOW!!! I could spend alot of time on this site. I’ve already found new music to add. What a cool idea. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been in an iPod rut for about a year now, just keep putting it on shuffle. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing I haven’t heard many, many times, so tending to let it just be sort of like muzak.

    2. REALLY?! You only JUST heard about this site? How long have you been reading me, because I posted about it back in May of ’07…

    3. Melanie: Glad you like. I thought it was neat.

Chili: Couldn’t have been long after then that I started, but I don’t think I was reading you daily on 05/21/2007. I checked a post or two in and around the Pandora.com one and didn’t recognize them.

I hope we can still be friends after this loss of cool points on my part. :)

    4. Yeah, Bo, we’re still good. Anyone who regularly says things like “wanton hubris” is an ace in my book…

    5. Been there. Done that. Its quite fun, ins’t it?… but it you pass up too many songs you won’t be able to play anything… so be forewarned.

    6. Yeah, you get six skips an hour. Though if you’re more of a wanderer than that, you can just make another station.

    7. Pandora is one of my lovers.

    8. That’s hot.

    9. Hi Bo -

Fantastic to hear that you’ve discovered Pandora, and that you’re enjoying it so much!
Thanks for listening, and let me know if you have any questions.

      : ) Lucia, from Pandora
