Wouldn’t you just love it if the intro instead went “Ladies and gentlemen: two-time Academy Award winner and ‘The Next Karate Kid’ Hilary Swank!”
But no matter. That’s how I heard it in my head, and it was seriously hilarious.
I couldn’t tell you the last time I watched the Oscars. It would not surprise me if it had been a decade. I’m watching tonight because I’m pulling for Diablo Cody and Juno.
You know, it’s not so bad. Jon Stewart is doing a decent job balancing humor and gravity. Also, Laura Linney is in the audience. Meoooowwwwwrrrrr.

This is the first year in a long time I haven’t watched. Normally, I help run a big oscar pool, with very cool prizes. But, this year, one of the families who are very involved with the planning had a serious illness, and just weren’t up for it.
Diablo Cody just won for original screenplay!
I was floored that she won. Now I can say I’m two degrees of separation from an Oscar winner. Crap — I’m going to have to print new business cards. Let me call you back. [click]
I do not watch award shows. I do not care who wins. I rarely, usually less than once a year, go to movie theatres. By the time I watch movies on pay-per-view, any awards hype is usually long past.
