I should clarify: when I say she acted like it was toxic waste, what I mean is that we were almost never allowed to have any–not even mainstream stuff like Frosted Flakes, Alpha-Bits, Honeycomb… Those exceedingly rare times that she did relent and a box of said “garbage” made it into our house, we always snarfed it in a day or two, which only reinforced her belief that it was awful for us.

I read today that when the nine-banded armadillo has babies, they’re always genetically identical quadruplets. Isn’t that weird?

I see live armadillos only late at night when they are rooting up my father in law’s house foundation and he goes outside to shoot them. Those things’ eyes reflect like lasers in the night. Scary.
