“But just in case there are still nagging doubts, let me say it as plainly as I can: if you buy a car from Chrysler or General Motors, you will be able to get your car serviced and repaired, just like always. Your warranty will be safe. In fact, it will be safer than it’s ever been. Because starting today, the United States government will stand behind your warranty.” – Barack Obama, March 30, 2009

“This is the same federal government that can’t even switch America to digital TV?” – Charles Hurt, March 31, 2009
Can we please get to the part where GM and Chrysler just file Chapter 11 and life will go on (as it certainly shall)? And dear readers, for the love of all that is holy: if you’re in the market for a new car or truck, will you please give Ford your serious consideration?
Folks, the United States government will stand behind your warranty. Wow. Just…wow. Nanny state apologists, are we cramming this into the commerce clause? Is that how the constitutionality of this works?
Guess I’d better start saving up. I have a $7,000 brake job scheduled in six months. Oh, silly me; what am I thinking? There’ll be a Monopoly money-funded government program to take care of it for me.

Have to say I thought the same thing about Ford when I read this article earlier today. Got a lot more respect for them now.
I just want Him to SHUT UP!!!
Amy and I drive Chevys and are happy that you are doing your part and sacrificing to keep them running. Yes We Can! So when GM goes toes up, any gueses where my closest repair will be? Tullahoma maybe? When does the UAW boss lose his job?
Bigdave: I wish I needed a car. They have a couple I’d drive and seriously consider. The 2010 Taurus looks awfully sweet, too.
tjs1963: We might as well wish for butterscotch rain.
BamaDan: I sincerely the UAW is going to get it in the stones during bankruptcy proceedings, which should have started how many months and how many billions of dollars ago?
GM is going to be fine. They’re GM, for God’s sakes. I find the picture for Chrysler considerably hazier.
