We (mostly Lea) have amassed a lengthy and varied repertoire of reasonably good-for-us dinners.  Lea will plan our menu a month in advance, and it’s a lot easier to remain sustainedly interested in eating correctly.

So my worst sins of consumption are generally not committed at home.  However, I’ve blogged before about a highly fattening meal we enjoy a couple of times a year, and it’s always been difficult for me to imagine eating something worse.

That was, until I read about the Bacon Explosion.  I think this is the most ridiculously unhealthy single food item I’ve ever seen.  How about two pounds of bacon pinwheeled through and woven around two pounds of Italian sausage?

Here it is in the smoker, to give you a better idea of how it’s put together:

Fully illustrated assembly instructions and cooking directions here.

Fortunately this stands no chance of any regular appearance at our house, however infrequent, because Lea’s not crazy about Italian sausage.  Plus, we don’t currently have a smoker.  You know, I was going to say I’d ask a buddy to make one just so I could try it, but that’s foolish.  I’m certain it’s delicious.  I should probably remain ignorant of just how delicious.

    6. That looks nauseating. I love bacon, but not that much.

    7. I had to sub out the Italian sausage, as Lea isn’t a fan. So we’re going with a breakfast sausage/ground beef mix in the center. I’ll save ya a slice if’n ya want. ;-)

    8. They made this on the today show this morning
